Water Babies Treats
Have you ever thought about taking your baby swimming?
Babies and toddlers just love being in warm water — and it’s really good for them, too. Swimming is also the perfect exercise for little ones, since water allows their muscles to move freely and they’re supported by its buoyancy.
There’s nothing quite like the feel of your baby’s skin against your own. It’s one of the best things you can do to bond with your baby, and being in a cosy warm-water pool enhances those cherished moments. Giving your baby water confidence is the most important way you can help prepare them to enjoy swimming and be safe in the water for life. And with NHS guidelines saying that babies don’t need to have had their vaccinations before they can swim, it’s one of the few things you can do together from birth.
Water Babies have been teaching babies and toddlers to swim since 2002, and with a clear emphasis on having fun, their multi-award winning lessons are extremely sociable for both of you and a great way of making new friends. And with world-class teachers, you can trust them to take the very best care of you and your little one.
Give your baby a splashing start to life with Water Babies!

An innovative excuse to get your favourite handbag out!
It’s no secret I love handbags. I used to let myself buy a new handbag each year as a special treat. Or if it was really expensive, every two years. Then I had a baby.
Soon, my handbags became redundant as I carried around my giant, yet practical, baby changing bag and just shoved a few of my essentials in it.
It saved me carrying two bags; remembering I had two bags, and all the potential disasters that can go with that.
My handbag pride had left the building. My priorities had changed.
As Elsie’s got older, sometimes we dare venture out with her little Cath Kids ruck sack; shared of course. I have my wallet and phone in it and Elsie, her water and snacks. (Never leave the house without snacks!)
Foolproof Baby Changing On the Go
I’ve been changing nappies on a daily basis for the last 16 months. I’ve become somewhat of an old hand at it, there are no more pee on the sofa incidents, and it becomes less of a two man job as each day passes. So, you’d wonder how after 16 months of dealing with changing nappies multiple times a day, how I would still forget to pack the basics in the bag. I’m in need of a one-stop-everything-in-one-place solution – I blame the sleep deprivation!
Becky Mantin: The day my life changed for ever
May 30, 2007 is a day I will never forget, for all the wrong reasons.
At the time I was an energetic, healthy 26-year-old who liked to take part in most leisure activities, particularly sailing, surfing and rock climbing.
Yet unbeknown to me this was about to change for ever.
As a member of the ITV weather team I was aware of a spell of good weather coming up and decided to take advantage of it by going on a surfing holiday to Croyde Bay, north Devon, with my friend Jon.
I had surfed in Australia before, although I wasn’t an expert by any means.
One afternoon when Jon and I were out surfing I noticed one particular surfer who was clearly a novice on an advanced surfboard, which are harder and less forgiving than a beginner’s board, and made a point of keeping a good distance from him.
Becky Mantin: My life as a mum
Weather forecaster Becky tells M&B all about her pregnancy, birth, and life as a working mum, plus introduces us to her new innovation, the nappy grab bags.
Becky Mantin is a favourite on the weather forecasts, and is mum to two boys, with a third child on the way. She talks to M&B about her life as a mum, and about Nappy Grab Bags, Becky’s new product – small nappy change kits that fit in your pocket, containing a nappy, 4 wipes, and a sachet of nappy cream.
“A great idea for busy mums and dads on the go”
Introduction by Sharon Trotter:
I have to admit I almost deleted the press release for this new product. Being a passionate advocate of a ‘less is more’ approach to skincare, to baby products and to packaging, I expected the Nappy Grab to be just another gimmick. How wrong was I? Not only is the Nappy Grab Bag a great idea for busy mums and dads on the go, but it comes with my favourite baby products: both the Weleda Nappy Change Cream and Jackson Reece Wipes achieved Best of the best awards in TIPS trials!
Quick, Easy and Stress Free Nappy Changing
Mum of a Premature Baby Review
Every Monday, Chris’s mum takes our eldest, C, out for the day. I pack up our changing bag with everything he might need for the day. This means that if we are taking E out, we are changing bag-less and we need to find something else to put her nappies, wipes, etc. in.
Becky Mantin (you may recognise her from presenting ITV Weather) has developed a Nappy Grab Bag which is handy little pouch that contains everything you need for a nappy change and it can fit right in your back pocket. When I first heard about the bag, I couldn’t wait to try it next time we were out with E.
Preparing for a Toddler Friendly Holiday
We’ve even got a handy Becky Mantin’s Nappy Grab Bag. It’s got everything you need for a single nappy change so great to keep in the car for an emergency or just in your pocket if you are going out but don’t want the whole changing bag with you. Husb loves it because he can just take one thing in with him, it’s all there, it’s small and the whole lot is just binned afterwards as it is it’s own waste bag. I love it because the pack turns into a portable changing mat, great for less than savoury changing rooms or if you are caught short on a long walk and L finds the nappies comfortable. It’ll never replace my changing bag as we still need the toys, snacks and everything else but I would also keep a few around for day trips, car emergencies or chucking at babysitting family members. If you like the sound of these you will find them at Ocado and from June they’ll be popping up all over the place including Amazon
Slick Mummy adds Becky Mantin’s Nappy Grab Bag to her holiday hit list
First up are these nifty new nappy ‘all in one’ Grab Bag kits from former ITV weather girl Becky Mantin. The bags are disposable, and consist of a bio-degradable polythene outer wrapping which is sealed with an adhesive label. As the label is torn, the wrapping unfurls to reveal one eco-responsible Naty by Naturecare nappy (6 sizes available), one sachet of Weleda nappy cream, and four individually-foil-packed Jackson Reece organic baby wipes inside. We love the striking colourways and great eco-friendly brands included.
Becky Mantin waged all-out war on her baby’s severe eczema
The first inkling of a problem came when my elder son Rory was about eight months old: Little patches of dry, itchy, scaly skin appeared on the front of his feet.
It seemed fairly innocuous and eczema runs in his father’s family, so it wasn’t a huge shock. A smear of one per cent hydrocortisone cream from the GP quickly cleared it up.
We had no idea that this was merely a warning shot for the agony to come. Ten months later, it was Easter and we’d driven from London to Somerset to see my grandmother.
We were having a stressful time as a family – a house purchase falling through at the last moment resulted in a high-tension, last-minute, interim move while I was eight months pregnant. On Good Friday, the day after our arrival, Rory woke covered head to toe in a livid rash: red, raised bumps. It looked shocking. He wasn’t scratching himself or crying – but he did feel feverish.
The Feel-Good Factor interview with Becky Mantin
For this month’s Feel-Good Factor interview we talk to the gorgeous Becky Mantin, weather forecaster for ITV, mother of two small boys and keen sailor, surfer and runner, who is about to launch a new business designing baby travel products which aim to make getting out and about with small children easier, simpler, faster and greener.
With two small boys, a demanding day job and a new business launching I’m certainly in the rush hour of life! I used to feel overwhelmed and guilty that I wasn’t doing any of my various roles well enough. Then I heard Kirstie Allsopp say ‘you can have it all, but you can’t have it all at once’ – life changing! Now I’m all about prioritising, with my family firmly placed at the top of the list. Every decision I make passes through a ‘family filter’ in my brain – if it negatively affects them in any way, I simply say no. It takes practice but allowing myself to concentrate on what matters most to me at this time in my life is very liberating and nothing makes me feel better than knowing that I’m focusing utterly on doing the very best for my family.
